FAQ
Anything not covered here, ask in the Discord.
Does my financial data leave my computer?+
No. DixonDesk is local-first: your purchases, sales and cost basis live in a database file on your own machine. Marketplace and email syncs pull data in; nothing gets pushed out to us.
Which marketplaces and retailers are supported?+
Sales sync directly from eBay, Amazon, Walmart and Wix seller accounts — two of them on Basic, all of them on Unlimited. Purchases are read from your inbox for a supported list of retailers: Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Topps, Fanatics, Mattel, Pokemon Center and Premium Bandai. That list grows as retailers get added; anything outside it can still be entered by hand.
How is cost basis calculated?+
Using specific identification — an IRS-recognized inventory method — rather than an average. Each purchase batch keeps its own cost (COGS), and when a unit sells it's matched to the batch it actually came from. Buying the same item at three different prices gives you three different real profit numbers, not one blended guess.
What happens to my data if I cancel?+
Your database file is yours and stays on your machine, forever — nothing you’ve already entered is ever locked away. Your dashboard, every tab, and full export all stay fully available for as long as you want. What actually requires an active subscription is adding new activity: syncing pauses, and creating or editing purchases, sales, and any other record needs a current trial or license. Renew any time to pick up exactly where you left off.
What’s the difference between Basic and Unlimited?+
Only the number of selling accounts you can sync. Basic covers two — eBay and Amazon, for instance — and Unlimited covers as many as you sell on. Every other feature, including purchase capture, lot-level cost basis and the dashboard, is identical on both.
How do I get my license key?+
It’s emailed to you the moment you start the trial, along with the download link. Paste it into DixonDesk under File → License…
Where do I update my card or cancel?+
Every receipt includes a link to your billing portal, where you can change plan, update payment details, download invoices and cancel. Cancelling leaves your license active until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
Can I run it on more than one machine?+
One at a time per key. To switch machines, release the old activation in the license portal linked in your confirmation email, then activate the new machine with the same key. If you need two running at once, buy a second license.
Is there a Mac version?+
Not today. DixonDesk is a Windows desktop app. Mac support is on the roadmap but has no date attached.
What does the free trial include?+
Fourteen days of the full plan you pick, no card required to start.
How often does it update?+
Continuously. The app is refined against real reseller workflows and real edge cases as they come up; updates are included with an active license.
